Why do I have such a hard time believing this? Experience you say? I doubt that I have ever before experienced what is to come for this coming year. More like common sense, mixed with age and pessimism. I anticipate another of Tennyson’s poems; “The Charge of the Light Brigade”. ~~dru~~
I so relate to what you say, dru, about having a hard time believing it. To me, this quote means that in spite of how we’re conditioned by common sense, age and pessimism, the turn of a year in itself still seems to suggest the possibility of something better. That’s why the hope whispers.🙂
Great quote!
It is, isn’t it?! I had not seen it before yesterday.
